TU LAU KHUSHNUMA…

Sandeep Silas “deep”

Tu lau khushnuma, main patanga tera

Tujhko jiyun to, jal jaun main

Ye kya raabta, kaisa hai mela

Tujhko chhuu lun to, khil jaun main

Tu madhosh hai, mera khoya piya

Tujhko dekhun to, bhar jaun main

Mera dil to tera, ghar ban gaya

Tujhko paun to, bas jaun main

Tera charcha raha, wo zamana tera

Gehma-gehmi ho, to dar jaun main

Main to aayat teri, tu Isaa hai mera

Tujhko milne ko, lalchaun main

Har raah teri, har jahaan hai tera

Le chala tu mujhey, kahan ko jiya

Zubaan ne meri, aaj shikwa kiya

Aisa milna hua to, mar jaun main

Tu lau khushnuma, main patanga tera

Tujhko jiyun to, jal jaun main

Ye kya raabta, kaisa hai mela

Tujhko chhuu lun to, khil jaun main

इतना भी क्या …? ITNA BHI KYA…? WHAT IS SO MUCH…? By Sandeep Silas ‘deep’

इतना भी क्या…? ITNA BHI KYA…?

(WHAT IS SO MUCH…?)

Itna bhi kya ki khanzar utha liya?

Muskura ke bhi to jaan le lete hain log

(What is so much that you picked up a dagger?

People take a life with a smile too)

Aisa bhi kya ki pyala-e-zahar la diya?

Raaz chhupaye bhi dairo-haram chaley jaatey hain log

(What is that the cup of poison was offered?

People hide secrets and still bow in a temple & mosque)

Itna bhi kya ki Khuda ko bhula diya?

Ta zindagi duago bhi to reh lete hain log

(What is so much that you even forgot the existence of God?

People live their entire lives immersed in prayer too)

Aisa bhi kya ki kalaam-o-granth jala diya?

Aayaton mein bhi to suquun talaash lete hain log

(What is that the Holy Scriptures were burned?

People find their peace in the verses too)

Itna bhi kya ki wada-e-wafa se purdah kiya?

Adaavat ko dil rakh ke bhi reh lete hain log

(What is so much that you forgot the promises made in faith?

People can hide malice in the folds of their hearts and live)

Aisa bhi kya ki raah-e-ranjish hi liya?

Rishton ka wazan bhi to uthaa lete hain log

(What is that you took to the road of enmity?

People carry the burden of relationships too)

Itna bhi kya ki chand se bair hi kiya?

Dushmani mein bhi dil laga lete hain log

(What is so much that you have ill-will for the Moon?

People engage their hearts in hostility too)

Aisa bhi kya ki rukh pe Iblis utaar liya?

Peshani pe to noor ki khwaahish rakhtey hain log

(What is that you fused your face with the Satan’s?

People actually wish for divine light to glow on their face)

Itna bhi kya ki koi “deep” ke khoon ka pyasa jiya?

Lahu pee ke bhi insaan bane rehtey hain log

(What is so much that someone lives thirsty for “deep’s” blood?

People drink blood and yet pretend to be human)

The Creative Mind by Silas

THE CREATIVE MIND

I am the creative mind, the Creator’s gift
Do I ever know who I am going to chose

And what I am going to make him write, propound, discover, or invent
Does it unfold on its own
Is it a gift from the heavens?
Or do I dig it from the womb of the earth

Sometimes it falls like the rain
Soaking me through and through
At times it is a boat, taking me on a sail to phantom lands
Some ways are those of a tempest, ripping everything off
Yet maintaining a calm in the eye of the storm
Many times in history it was a cloudburst and all the accumulated burden fell at once upon the paper

I have been doing it in the past
I am at it in the present
I will be in the future
I don’t know whether what I think and ink shall power revolutions or bring peace, or advance scientific discovery
I don’t care whether they will hate me or love me for it
Who writes for awards?
You do it because you have to do it, like you are born with a pen in the mouth
Ha, I miss the silver spoon though

In the gospel it is written, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” !
This is the Alpha and the Omega
The creative mind is the mind blessed by God
Power does not flow from the barrel of a gun
It flows from the subtlety of the Word

I became Hobbes, when I told you about the “war of every man against every man”, and asked you to naturally seek peace
I lived in Locke, and wrote the theory of the mind, defined tabula rasa, gave you the concepts of identity and self
I was in the head of Rousseau, when I wrote “Men are born free, yet everywhere are in chains “, gave you the Social Contract, say democracy
I was with Voltaire when I defended freedom of religious and political thought, and handed to you the power of Reason
I was with Newton when I revealed the Laws of Motion
I permeated Pasteur, and advanced the medical sciences
Galileo saw through me the understanding of the World
I became Einstein and defined the theory of relativity
I made Curie discover radiation, Otto Hahn discover nuclear fission
I’ve led you like Aristotle, Faraday and Fleming of the penicillin
I’ve been with you always

Michelangelo celebrated me as he chiseled the Pietà and painted the Sistine Chapel
Mona Lisa smiles because I gave the mystique look to her eyes through Leonardo da Vinci
Van Gogh brought The Starry Night to life and the Sunflowers to bloom as he was captivated by me
Rembrandt created The Night Watch, as I conceptualized
Shakuntala and Hansa Damyanti became immortalized as I held the brush of Raja Ravi Verma
I have given my best to more like Picasso, Monet, Amrita Sher-gil and Husain
Many more have excelled because they nourished me

When I became joyous, I gave Mozart, the ‘Night Music’ symphonies

I rejoiced as a child when Schumann wrote Caranaval music, ‘Scenes from Childhood’
Chopin, made me his angel and got the Sonatas
Haydn, looked up to me and found his ‘Surprise’ and ‘God of Life’
Even when Beethoven became deaf, I blessed him with ‘Allegretto’

It was not the choice of Columbus to discover America
Nor of Vasco da Gama to discover India
Alexander did not come of his own to meet his greatness
Neither did Ashoka renounce war of his own volition
I, the creative mind, was all the time living in their minds
I was with Martin Luther King Jr. and gave him the speech of the Dream
I powered Gandhi’s resolve to make India independent of the colonial yoke

I have triumphed in the writings of the Sufi saints
I was within Bulleh Shah, when he coined “Bulleya ki jaana main kaun” (Bulleya, to me, I am not known)
I lived with Rumi, as he said, “I am like heaven, like the moon, like a candle by your glow; I am all reason, all love, all soul, by your soul”
I celebrated Kahlil Gibran
I powered Montaigne’s works’
I rejoiced in William Shakespeare, Tennyson, Yeats, Byron, Bacon, Wordsworth, Milton, Keats, Browning and Chaucer
Where all I’ve been all through the evolution of the world, the thought, the philosophy and the Word

Where all I will be is my choice and not yours
I will fill the ones who deserve me
Yet, a little bit of me will be given to each one of you
It will be your purity of emotion, passion, and soul to attain me fully
I AM…

WHAT TO EXPECT AND ASK ? BY SANDEEP SILAS

WHAT TO EXPECT AND ASK ?

SANDEEP SILAS

Don’t make me so big that I think I own Your Earth

Don’t give me so much that I think I can command the oceans

Don’t place me so high that I forget I am human

Don’t make me so powerful that I am distanced from hungering humanity

Don’t give me all what I ask, lest I forget the struggle and the value of achievement

Let me live with the mountain and the sea in perfect harmony

Let me watch in amusement the flight of birds

Let me eyes think my body is moving with the flying clouds

Let me touch the trees and the green leaves

Let me smell the beautiful flowers, fragrance pervading my soul

Let me feel the warmth of another human hand

Let me not shy away from extending a helping hand

Let me seek shelter in times of trial in You

Let me pray for easing the suffering of others

Let me be a part of You

Make me an instrument of Your will

Your wish to become my path

Your design to become the plan of my life

Your command to be my endeavour

Your presence to be my feeling

Your proximity to be my pride

Your grace to fill my soul

Your holiness to become my divinity

All this I ask and no more

If you think this is the way

May your lips too utter this prayer

The Light Within by Sandeep Silas

THE LIGHT WITHIN

SANDEEP SILAS

I am where the hydrangeas grow
And the rain showers the hills

The whistling thrush sings on my window
A song of love and peace
No matter the lightening, no worry the thunder
There is a time for everyone which shall come on its own

I’ve stopped searching the sky for whispers
I’ve forgotten the feeling of lying on grass
I don’t walk on dew anymore
I am content with the rain that the heavens pour

No more I look for oceans in her eyes
Nor do I wonder what Nostradamus says
The trifling nature of humans is nothing before the might of Time
It was all written in your stars when you were sent to earth
The pleasure and pain
The walks, the falls and the rise again
How people shall pinch your feathers away
When they are envious of your flights
How Brutus will stab his Caesar again
How Shylock will demand his pound of flesh
You are no more in your mother’s womb, my child
You better brave the new world order
The tempests, the stones and the mocks

They come again and again
To spite you and to harm you
They are not imaginary fears
They are the plots of the imperfect
Who have not felt the presence of God
And are afraid not of His mighty sword

Many like Alexander have come and gone
Their ambitions carried away in drops of poison, of their own making
Only the Kookaburra, and the Whistling Thrush remain
To narrate the story of yesteryears
Still they carry on with puffed chests
The airbags, those a mere pin can deflate

I’ve given up chasing butterflies, those hover on blossoms briefly
They will go on living on flowers, sipping sweet nectar
Carrying the pollen unwittingly
To other pastures and foreign lands
I have become the undying witness to the passing time

I know every Achilles has a soft heel
No one lives beyond his time
All pebbles of the river bed, disintegrate slowly
Till they become just sands of Time

I look to the light that lives within
Call it by any name, it is the same
It is the candle of the good deed
It is the fire of the funeral pyre
Choose your light with wisdom and care
You are the Light that lives within

A Bed and a Plough by Sandeep Silas in “Borough in the Mist”

Wo Duaon Ka Asar Hoga…by Sandeep Silas ‘deep’

WO DUAON KA ASAR HOGA…
Sandeep Silas ‘deep’

Wo duaon ka asar hoga, to zaroor mera hoga
Khuda ke samney mera sar, yun hi jhuka hoga

Wo dil jo mera hoga, to zaroor dhadakta hoga
Khuley aasman ki tarah, wo bhi simat-ta hoga

Wo khwaab subah ka hoga, to zaroor sachh hoga
Aftaab ki mauzoodgi mein, wo chand nikla hoga

Wo kis kadr mujhey chahega, uska noor kaisa hoga
Wo anjum-sabaah, nazuk mizaaj, paak ruh hoga

Wo shabnam ki tarah hoga, to khamosh barasta hoga
Bikhar-bikhar kar rom-rom, wo zaroor khilta hoga

Wo nagma-numah hoga, to saaz ke liye jeeta hoga
Sur aur lay ka roz, dekho, khushnumaah milan hoga

Tutey huey sitaron ka phir, koi naya jahan hoga
Wo ‘deep’ gar jala hoga, ghar-mandir ka hi hoga

FRAGRANCE

Once again a gust of wind brings your fragrance to me

The same world of your poise, the same happy-go-lucky attitude

Your scattered tresses, your melting down in my presence

Before me, the blossoming of your body, like a bud

Shining stars visible in those wistful eyes

Nobody ever saw, such scenes of heady intoxication

Where do I hide the sparks, those fill my pores

My madness is visible in all directions

Let somebody, touch and feel me like a butterfly

He too shall fall like a drunkard inebriated with your odour

Time kept on shrinking, become drops of feelings

Neither I came to know, nor saw, sat I with closed eyes

Now, every breath brings to me your aroma

Let all my life pass in the shadow of this moment

The halting of hesitant conversations on my lips

The winds changing suddenly with the season

I could not understand you my beloved, though I knew you

But, the scent of your body I inhale with every gust of the air

Sheeshey… (Glass…)

Sheeshey… (Glass…)

Sandeep Silas ‘deep’

Kahin pe aah nikley, to kahin pe dam nikley

Mere armaan mere khwabon ke barabar nikley

(Somewhere the cry came out, somewhere my breath

My desires found the same fate as of my dreams)

Chah se kabhi kya etbaar aur wafa nikley

Khushi ke kareeb pahunchh dekha, puraney gham nikley

(Do faith and trust ever get a life just because you love?

What I found near my happiness, was nothing but old wounds)

Jo labrez they dil, ranai-e-mohabbat se

Wo bhi kuchh chatkey huey sheeshey nikley

(The heart that overflowed with the loveliness of love

Came out to be nothing, but pieces of shattered glass)

Tukdey-tukdey zameer main kab tak batorta

Kuey-yaar mein andherey tehkhaney nikley

(How long could I pick up, pieces of her conscience

In the lane of my beloved, I discovered dark alleys)

Saj ke pujta raha mere hathon wo lamha-ba-lamha

Mangney aaye zindagi, to wo bhi khamosh butt nikley

(The One whom I worshipped each moment as I adorned her

She too became a statue of silence, when I asked her for life)

Aye insaan pathar ke butt ki ibadat hi kar le

Shayad uss sey hi kuchh duaon ka jawab nikley

(O Man, worship the statue of stone instead

Perhaps, some answers to life, you might find in prayers)

Zaar na huey mere iradey, na thakey raastey

Mere yaar ke masoom kadam hi kamzor nikley

(Neither my determination is broken, nor my paths tired

The innocent steps of my beloved came out to be weak)

Ghuncha dahan mein chhuppi mohabbat khudgarz nikley

Kya hua iss jahan ko, koi sachha na nikley

(The love hidden in a bud like face, reveals itself so self-centered

What has happened to this world, none is found true anymore)

Haseen baaton se bhartey they jo zindagi

Fareb ki chadar oddey wo samajhdar nikley

(The one who filled my life with sweet nothings

Was found so worldly wise, underneath a veil of deceit)

‘Deep’ si mohabbat aaj koi kar le mujhsey

Aag mein jal kar hi, baati se roshni nikley

(May someone love me like a ‘deep’ today

The wick gives light, only as it burns in the fire)

Raastey

Raastey

Sandeep Silas ‘deep’

Tamam raastey uskey samney they, chalta kis par

Taqdeer ka wo badshah tha, badalta kyun kar

Ishq bhi kiya to Khuda se, ruhaniyat uskey sar

Ek ek kar ke girtey rahey, insaan chaukhat par

Gairon ka laya zahar peeta raha, wo shahad samajh kar

Uskey qa’atil jo aye they, gaye mureed ban kar

Apney lahu ko bahata raha, jiskey liye zindagi bhar

Wo jigar ka tukda, hisaab mangta raha, gin gin kar

Moo-e-badan ho gaye chandi, safar mein chal kar

Tajurba iss tilismi duniya ka, pura na hua magar

Farebi shahar mein rekhta zameer wo chunta kyun kar

Fakeeri uska aalam thi, darakhton ki ameeri uska ghar

Ankhon mein wafa nahin milti ab iss daur mein hamsafar

Tujhko diye jaatey hain kuchh roshni ‘deep’  apna jaan kar

Paths

Sandeep Silas ‘deep’

So many paths were before him, which one to take?

He was King of his destiny, why would he change?

When he fell in love it was with God, spirituality filled him

One by one the men kept falling, before him at doorstep

He drank the poison brought to him, believing it be honey

Those who came to murder him, went back as his admirers

For the one he kept bleeding his heart his entire life

That portion of heart kept on keeping count of money

Hair turned silver over his body as he walked the path of life

The experiences of this magic world still he could not live full

In a city of cheats, why would he pick up scattered conscience

A mendicants life was his world, the richness of trees his home

In these Times you don’t find faith in eyes, my companion

‘Deep” continues to give you some light, thinking you his own

Contd…

Shelter

She has started liking me thus immeasurable

Without a reason she comes to meet me everyday

Neither she is afraid of gossips or being discovered

She has become captive of my eloquence and verse

How can I say to her all those couplets before the world

Those I have written to narrate to her in privacy

Slowly-slowly her footsteps are now moving ahead

She remembers all things sans reason and meaning

Tomorrow she will come again like the morning breeze

The gardener waits like the desire of a blossoming rose

Truth

You too, said the same truth, yet again

The story of the garden found a new grave

Devoted I became, once I heard your voice

As if the dark of the night had found a new light

Now, silences shall envelope me once again

Heart shall search once more for twigs to make a nest

‘Deep’, my soul shall be drowned in this pure moment

Who has been able to stop himself before the elixir of life?

Sapney (Dreams)

What all dreams are hidden in these fish like eyes?

They drift like fragrance and spread cheer on my way

Had I but, seen only a dream, I could have told a confidante

When dreams come in a procession, how many friends do I search?

I keep thinking and wishing for her to come face to face

May be all my dreams shall come true on her coming

Give this dream too a name, O ‘deep’

The night is not everlasting, it shall soon be over

Nafees Nazm (Pure Verse)

Don’t call out to me so much that I wear wings to fly

Don’t adorn your world so much that I loose myself

I am a mere shadow lying forgotten in the sand

Like the pandiculation of a tired traveller am I

Sit down beside me to hear once all that is in my heart

Will reveal all those wounds inflicted by Time upon me

How much have I to walk every day and how much far

I roam restless knowing not what is to be my destination

Why do you talk to me of cities unseen ?

When I am not in there, why does it seem a city to you?

Why do you ask the sea, the address of the shores?

With a lot of effort my friends I have lost myself

Since the time you met me, I have forgotten God

I keep on searching for Him now in your pure eyes

Daur (TIme)

How strangely the madness of passion rises to a man’s head?

He reaches or not his destination, life gets consumed by the pursuit

This state of being crazy in love is also so strange

There might not be any truth, still it feels so sweet

One whole night has gone by, without looking at the stars

In the orbs of your beauteous face, I found my shining stars

This must be the Day of Judgement, known to humanity for ages

See, how the Moon is illumined today by ‘deep’ without any reason

Coincidence by Sandeep Silas ‘deep’

Be grateful for your coming or treat it like a coincidence

Life is taking a sweet turn, this much I realize

Two days I don’t meet you and then it seems to me

That my life is ebbing out, with each breath I take

The heart’s yearning is now being revealed by the eyes

Your thoughts bring those of the angel Gabriel to me

Before your coming several questions surround me

Ti’s strange, only beautiful thoughts fill me, once you come

How do I tell you to stop for me during your own journey

Before you too, many others could not become my custodian

I roam restless with a measure in hand, from door to door

Never know when the beloved may appear as a doctor to soul

My days have started shrinking betwixt a few words

My musings narrate my story without you, to everyone

One ‘love’, brought ‘deep’, one ghazal, another time two

How will she ever understand, such intimate conversations

Ummeed

Hope

Intoxicated with the wealth of your beauty am I

Mirthful is the dawn, dew is spread all around

I remember you sweetheart every day and night

You are the utmost of grace, my playful light

That the lamp of hope, be not extinguished my lady

Therefore ‘deep’ dwells in poetry and is on the rise

Do Kadam दो कदम

Do Kadam (Two Steps)

Two steps I desired to walk in companionship

Someone to be with, on the sweet road of love

I searched for a youthful beauty like you everyday

I believed I was on way to become a statue of stone

Some conversations, some meetings is the desire now

I have found the reason of my incomparable existence

Let the word be spread, let there be celebration

I am alive, let this be known to all with respect

Half of my life I have lost in the years of darkness

Let me dedicate the rest to your name, my precious

Happy is ‘deep’ that you have come of your own

I don’t know, I feel, but my companion has come

Jazba

Jazba (Passion)

Like nectar rises my passion to the flower

Whosoever tasted said, ‘sweet like honey’

Like deep lines etched on snowy mountains

I lie silent on the rocky bed below the snow

Give me some sun, let me melt and reach you

My core is water, give me favour of your mercy

I halted thinking that the road was my destination

In a magic like grip I was, my life was in a bind

Touch me and wake me, let eyes not get dimmed

Hold me, pick me up, silent is all congregation

Give me some laughter, give me some smartness

Wish me a prayer to rise and blossom next season

Tum

You

When breath rises and conversations go on

Why do silences still linger between lips?

With you before me, love, intoxication, I lived

Far you are today, and I am near, I am love

We go on moving like breath in unknown spaces

‘Deep’ will utter the name that lives in breath when he rests

Kaanch ke Tukdon Si

Like Shattered Glass…

Like shattered glass my life is spread all around

Gave some to her, to him, whom all did I give life?

You take some life from me for free

Even God doesn’t give life till you die

Janey Kyun Aaj

Why Today

Today, why it seems you belong to me

I have seen you so many times earlier too

Had you not been, the miracles of Nature I wouldn’t have seen

By feeling you I was blessed with fame and elegance

On the instigation of the Moon, all questions those arose

Became a kiss and wrote an answer on my lips

Today, why it seems you belong to me

I have seen you so many times earlier too

Tere Aane Se

By Your Coming

I am awakened again, by your coming

Stay a while, alone, I am so incomplete

Let me sit with your tresses covering me

Let me think that my life is because of you

Wish God had come down from His heaven to earth

He too would have been your mad lover, and roamed like me

I had fallen asleep in this world, O Lord

Why did you give me life again my God?

Bahaaney

Excuses

I go on finding excuses to laugh in life

What if, when I have a habit to stay happy

I go on calling out your name like a madman

What can I do if you cannot hear me call

Each lane knows of my love for you

What can I do, if your heart is like stone

I raise my hands in prayer everyday

If God becomes sullen, what can I do

Bahaane by Sandeep Silas ‘deep’ in Saada Khayal (2009)

Ghar

Home

I can see my home in your eyes

All my dreams stay entwined with you

Say once that you have become mine

Like the moonshine you blossom in the night

You are smiling like dewdrops placed on flowers

You have mingled like fragrance carried by the wind

I can see my home in your eyes

All my dreams stay entwined with you

Kehtey Hain Wo Mujhko

She Says To Me

She says, she says, very little to me

I hear her but, every moment, always

She glances at me just once or two looks

Her eyes but, I see filling the entire world

That the redness of her lips not color my body

I meet her rarely, though feelings fill every pore

Relations stand in front of me like a wall

But how can I return the angel of God?

Chaahat Chakor

Longing of Chakor

Hidden I kept the the feelings in my heart

Never confessed to you the state of my heart

Had it escaped, it would not have had any value

Desires are those, which never ever come on lips

I keep on flying like the Chakor holding its longing

I have become a cloud that is filled with lightning

O God, a lover whose longing is so volcanic

One day that writer will reach the lips of his beloved

Chaahat Chakor by Sandeep Silas ‘deep’ in Saada Khayal (2009)

In the above couplets the lover’s longing for his beloved is similar to the Chakor bird’s longing for the Moon. A description on the legendary bird Chakor follows for readers:

“Chakor

The Chakor is described in Hindu mythology as a bird that thrives only on moon-light for its food.

Deep into the full moon night, the Chakor sheds its tears in longing, releasing the song of unrequited passion, for its alluring beloved (i.e. the moon) is unattainable high in the skies. The bittersweet pain of the fullness of its love makes life worth living, for on this occasion of the full moon night, it can see the beloved from afar, undisturbed, in her full glory.

The great ascetic guru and philosopher of Advaita, Adi Shankaracharya, describes the divine glory of the Goddess Tripurasundari as Amba, revealed in the face of the Full Moon. The Goddess rises from the ocean, clad in the luminescent jewels of the spray of the surging tide. High above in the sky, the luminous sweep of her full light releases waves of chaitanya – cosmic consciousness – dripping with the nectar of immortality. And the Chakor, thirsting for the charm of her enchanting smile, drinks in this nectar, which brings the fulfillment of his life’s purpose!

Adi Sankaracharya refers to the Chakor as a bird that is supposed to have drunk to the brim the moonlight of Goddess Amba’s smile, which is so sweet that it benumbs the bird’s beak. To counteract this numbness, the bird drinks moonlight, which in comparison to the smile of the Goddess, is termed  ‘sour gruel’.” Source: http://arunachalagrace.blogspot.in/2012/05/legendary-birds-in-hinduism.html)

Tum Samjho Na Samjho

You May Know or Not

You may know your faithfulness or not

I have made you my God

You may know your wish or not

Your eyes reveal the language of your heart

One life is not enough for me

To love you fully, I need to live many lives

Heart’s content be not, my soul remains restless

In prayer I say all that I have never said

Teri Aahat

Your Rustle

You skirted my dwelling today as you came to my city

My breath escapes me again and again as I hear your rustle

Once again shadows start floating on the mirror of my heart

Those who don’t have time to stop, they disappear with ease

I do not wait anymore for meetings of love

Or for sweet conversations and wet nights

I don’t know where the environment is leading me

My feet stop no more, listening to voices of this world

Teri Aahat by Sandeep Silas ‘deep’ in Saada Khayal (2009)

Ankahi Baat

Unsaid Conversation

Do not become like an unsaid conversation

Sometime, you must say something to me

Do not get lost like we meet strangers

You must stay with me for sometime

Do not hide like unknown feelings

Bring one day, your love to your lips

Do not sleep like an unseen dream

Fire the sky with a spark before you go

Do not get lost like an unwritten story

Narrate something to the world, then go

Do not go, leaving me, with eyes closed

‘Deep’, you must always keep looking at me

Ankahi Baat by Sandeep Silas ‘deep’ in Saada Khayal (2009)

Saada Khayal

Plain Thought

Plain the thought or laden with nectar

I never let you be away from my thought

You laughed while you spoke or kept quiet

Each mood of yours, I filled within my breath

You met me with open arms or like a statue

I never let my eyes leave the direction you were

You touched me or became captive of distances

I, but, always saw love within your eyes

Saada Khayal by Sandeep Silas ‘deep’ in Saada Khayal (2009)

Gar Khuda…

If, O God…

If, O God, all that could have been mine

I too would have lived a life like You

Would have seen each one and heard everyone

Everyday I would have sat in Judgement upon each one

I would have lived in every heart, within each soul

Every direction would have resounded with my name

These talks of the world, best thrive here only

I will come up to heaven and meet You in embrace

Gar Khuda… by Sandeep Silas ‘deep’ in Saada Khayal (2009)

Aas

Yearning

I lived through the days of life in yearning

This Sun would have set sans your thoughts

I was gifted a treasure since I found you

An excuse I found to preen myself each day

To say some words I found a friend

To write some letters I began a tradition

Your coming made a blossom bloom

One storm subsided and another arose

Aas by Sandeep Silas ‘deep’ in Saada Khayal (2009)

Berukhi

Indifference

I bowed before my indifferent beloved and saw

I reached the heights of love again and again and saw

I called out to her so much more and saw

I went on burning in my own fire of love and saw

I kept on stopping, stooping, and stifling myself and saw

I kept on writing letters of love, pouring out my heart and saw

I held hands, walked along the road and saw

Amidst prayer I opened my eyes in Church and saw

Go on lighting a bed of embers in front of my feet

Keep on sewing my chest with threads of pain

Go on, make my destination again a mirage

I have the heart of a sculptor, I am unstoppable

Berukhi by Sandeep Silas ‘deep’ in Saada Khayal (2009)

Tu

You

When the night is dark, you shine like the moon

Why not then, a storm rise up within my heart ?

You my beloved Piya, who resides in the clouds, tell me

Why you lit ‘deep’ on earth, and gave Moon to the sky?

“YOU” by Sandeep Silas ‘deep’ in Saada Khayal (2009)

God

I have seen Him, in your eyes only
